STRESS AND THAT STRESSFUL PERFECTION

STRESS IS GUARANTEED WHEN YOU TRY TO BE PERFECT…
Stress always results from trying to be perfect and achieving perfection. The more you want everything to be perfect, the more stress you put yourself under. The perfect holiday, the perfect wedding, the perfect birthday party, the perfect life, etc. Perfectionism is not good for your stress levels. You can gain stress relief by using the steps in this stress management strategy.
STRESS AND JUST GOOD ENOUGH
Firstly, repeat this statement every day to yourself. “There are times when near enough will be good enough”. There you have said it! Not everything has to be perfect, because you will kill yourself from the stress of trying.
STRESS AND SELECTIVE PERFECTIONISM
Secondly, pick several activities that you are now going to live with being ‘good enough’ and not perfect. This will help you to begin to deal with and accept imperfection. Develop ‘selective perfectionism’, saving it for only the most important activities.
STRESS AND CONCENTRATING YOUR ENERGY
Thirdly, save your energy for those things that do require greater perfection. Remember the more your need for perfection in your life, the more stress you produce. So always aim to save your energy and not attempt to achieve perfection in everything you do. Use selective perfectionism for everything you do. Otherwise, you’ll just end up highly anxious, worried and stressed out.

YOU CAN REDUCE YOUR STRESS WITH A WONDERMENT WALK…
Stress is increasingly part of people’s busy lives. This means that most of the time, when you are walking around you rush from here to there. Keeping up such a constant frantic pace can certainly make you tense, anxious and feeling stressed out. But here’s a real ‘slow down’ stress management and stress relief strategy for you.
STRESS MANAGEMENT AS YOU SLOW IT DOWN AND LOOK AROUND
Try this! Every now and then slow down your speed and take a ‘walk of wonderment’. For about 60 paces, try walking as slowly as you can. Feel your feet as you move and look around you slowly. Take in all the sights and sounds around you. Focus on slowing down your breathing as you slow your pace.
DISCOVERING A LESS STRESSFUL WORLD
You’ll actually discover a whole world of walking wonderment you never noticed before. You will see, smell, touch and hear things you were not aware of before. When you slow down and take in the world around you, you might just decide to no longer rush around in a state of ‘busy stress’.
